at the Tom House

From September to December 2024, Fausto was invited by the Tom of Finland Foundation (TOFF) to take part in an artist residency at the Tom House in Los Angeles.

The iconic Tom House, a Craftsman-style bungalow on a palm-tree-dotted hilltop in Echo Park, is home to the founding members of a communal household, Durk Dehner and Sharp. In the 1990s, they first invited the Finnish artist Tom of Finland to live and work with them in this very house.

While the house is partially a museum of gay erotic art—the archive of the Tom of Finland Foundation preserves and protects the legacy of the renowned gay erotic art illustrator and author—for over 20 years, international artists working in the field of gay erotic art have been invited to live and create there in three-month cycles.

The large garden serves as an open-air studio, meeting place, and community center. In this stimulating environment, Fausto created a total of 13 oil paintings, including portraits of new friends as well as erotic scenes.
